About Us

The Education Trust which was incorporated in 1998 is the legal owner of DOHA Academy. It is a charitable Trust, non-profit making where trustees are not remunerated.
The Board of Trustees is the sole policy maker of the school. After the Trust was set up it identified "Education" as one of the fields in which it should invest in order to propose a new paradigm based on Islamic perspectives to the present system of education which has deviated completely from its real objectives.

The Education Committee
The Trust put forward an Education Committee to work on the setting up of a Secondary institution for boys and girls. The committee is composed of Professionals in various areas of pedagogy, law, management and engineering. The Committee has been working for the past years and has been advising the Board Of Trustees for right decisions.
The terms of reference of the Committee are as follows:
• Analyzing the present education system and proposing a paradigm shift with excellence as keyword.
• A careful scrutiny of the pedagogical logistic in terms of human resource management, curriculum development, examinations, disciplines etc.
• Looking at the criteria for admission and promotion of students, recruitment and conditions of service of staff.
• Looking into the infrastructure requirements to meet the objectives of the institution.
• Analyzing the legislation regulating education in Mauritius and its implications on the project, namely constraints or opportunities and finding the most appropriate solutions.
• Looking at ways and means to enable students to develop a pro-active attitude towards society.
• Carrying out a thorough analysis of the financial aspects of the project by conducting a feasibility study and proposing means of financing the project.

The Present Education System Education
In the Mauritian system of Education, more emphasis is laid on academic success for material progress than on character and personality development. The development of the child has been almost totally neglected. Success in examinations is the most important objective in School life.
The present education system in which religion is not explicitly present is unable to curb the decadence of the modern society and stop the proliferation of its evil branches, such as moral depravity, indecency, drug use, violence, cut throat competitions, selfishness etc. The social conditions prevailing today in the country are a reflection of the failure of our education system.

The School and the Curriculum
The objective of the school intended for boys and girls proposed by the committee is to reach excellence in terms of the academic achievement and more important to produce devout citizen of the future. It is opened to all Mauritian citizens with special programs prepared for non- muslim students. In order to reach the goal the following will have to be fulfilled: The national curriculum will be retained. The pedagogical goal of the school will be the full implementation of moral values in all subject areas.
